SRS Light On!

My 1989 190E 2.6L gas/auto has a problem.

The SRS light is on all the time. Even when I reset the battery. How can I check the codes on this system?

I have a small black board near the battery with a button and red LED. There are about 8 holes, some smaller than others. I really havent looked at it very close.

Is it similar to Volvos code tester?

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Similar issue on my 560SL. See this thread for my situation - http://mbca.cartama.net/showthread.php?t=23795.

I'll be following yours closely to see if I can also come up with a solution.

Found out the problem on my 190E 2.3!! it has broken wiring under the driver seat. Reconnect it and the light off after start the car. I did not drive that car today yet... Hopefully, that is the problem to cause the SRS light on.

Good for you Jeff. I was hoping my problem was as easy as yours. I checked under the front seat of mine today and all looked okay.

Had the steering wheel off and unplugged and reconnected the electrical connector to the airbag. Is that the one you were talking about? If so, I think it's fine. I cleaned it up with contact cleaner while I had it apart too.
