CEL location - '99 C280

Can anyone please explain to me, or even better, post a picture of where on the instrument cluster the check engine light on a 99 C280 is located. When the key is in the on position, all the lights "lights" up, but the cel is nowhere to be seen.

I also studied the manual, and there is no mention at all of the cel. All the other light are explained (SRS, ABS, etc.)

Thanks.

Extreme right-hand/bottom corner ( next to the buttons for setting the clock ).
Just says " Check Engine ", no symbols, yellow in color.
My manual mentiones & shows it twice. ;)

Should this check engine light "light-up" when the key is in the on position

280

All bulbs should light up that is how you know they are working, that works for cars motorcycles and airplanes if it doesn't light up the bulb is more likely burned out

Is it easy to replace the bulb. Can someone please direct to a site/post where this is explained.

You'll need some insturment cluster removal tools (or you can fabricate your own from wire coat hangers or similar)

such as these:

Then check out this DIY article:

Its very similar except that your w202 has an electronic speedometer so you won't have that big screw on cable in the center. There should be enough slack to pull the cluster out a bit further.
