w140 big bang for the buck
95 S-500 with 89,000 miles on the clock. I noticed an Verrry slight shake in the steering wheel. Not always there and seemed more noticeable at lower speeds. I just had a front end aligned and tire are about 70%. While thumbing through a catalog I saw that a steering dampener could be had for about $50.00. so I ordered one. Nice day on the north east so I put it in. Install was a snap. Part $50.00.......install time 30 minutes....ride improvement PRICELESS.

Unfortunately at that amount of miles that shimmy at 55 probably just won't go away untill the front control arm rear bushings get replaced. (unless of course they already have been)

recurring shimmy at low speeds
I agree! Mine seems worse in the morning when cold and on a bad piece of asphalt near my house. It does not show up after driving for a while nor at higher speeds. Just a little irritating. I changed tires, bearings, rotors, pads etc. It turns out they"all have it" until you replace the bushings.
