190 Sunroof Problem

A tree hit my sliding/tilting sunroof and repair was made by local body shop. They really had no clue and fumbled their way thru the fix. Somehow they managed to get everything back together except that now the tilting function doesn't work. When I take out the headliner, it works fine -- slides and tilts. But when I reinstall the headliner (done about 15 times), the tilt doesn't work. Any ideas out there on what's happening?

Follow-up to 190 Sunroof Issue

Okay, nobody connects with my problem. How about this: Those crazy plastic clips that are attached to the sliding mechanism and that supposedly pull the sunroof headliner up when the sunroof tilts up, how in the world does one get those lined up into position when installing the headliner? Should the little ski-shaped plastic runners be positioned up with tips pointing down or vice versa? I tried both ways, but neither seems to work -- probably because I'm not engaging the clips the way they should be. Of course, it's impossible to see what's going on because everything is hidden. I followed the instructions of the service manual (for re-installing the headliner) with zero success.

Using the first 6 numbers of your VIN find you car here then look for sunroof. The diagrams may help.http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1.

Sunroof Problem Continues

Thanks, Geo. I checked your web site, but didn't find answers to my questions -- no diagrams of the sunroof mechanism came up. Surely, somebody out there has experienced difficulty installing the headliner. Any tips?
