SIGNS TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT? 1999 E320 only 68k miles!
Why is it when I engage my car is either drive or reverse I have to give it some gas to take off? Shouldn't it start automatically moving foward or back without any gas at all? That's what my other Mercedes cars do so is that any sign of a problem?
Also, when driving I can sometimes see the RPM guage "ticking" instead of going up smoothly.. Other then that the car drives great, no slipping and pulls very strong.. |

Have you serviced the transmission and checked the fluid level according to the book?

Why would the transmission need to be serviced at only 68K miles?
I'm a used car dealer in Sacramento.. I doubt they changed the trans. fliuid but where do I check it at? I can't find the transmission dip stick..

Because its a Mercedes. Before the filled for life stuff they used to spec tranny fluid changes every 15k-30k miles.

The service should be under $200 and most likely will make the delay problem go away.... You will have no "questions" to deal with and your customer will be good to go for a long time..... |

Its the Valve body in you're transmission. My friend had this problem before on his C280. His car would only start to reverse once he press the accelorator and would force the car back, and would force the car forward and then drive fine. There's was no auto matic rolling of the car once he let go of the brakes. They had a hard time figuring this problem out as his car still drove fine and everyone first doubted the tranny. It was once they finally took the transmission apart(cert. shop) they discovered this problem. It cost him around $2000 dollars to have it corrected, much cheaper then a new transmission.
