This is my very first attempt in a chatroom...ever! So, lease bear with me. The surge damper for my 117.985 engine is leaking. The Bosch part number is: 0280161007041 . Does anyone know where I can obtain a used one that doesn't leak?

As a Moderator, I am mildly insulted that you would call this site a "chat room."

But anyway, you can go to car-part.com and look for an engine or transmission for your car. The point is to find a recycler with cars like yours. Then you can call the recycler and ask if they will sell you the dampener.

My guess is that you will have to buy a new one. Most of the recyclers want to sell complete engines. The online sites have them for around $100.
