W/S203 replacing speedometer scale

Last fall I reported that I am going to move with my S203 C320 to Europe.

Here we are now. And my car has even got a front license plate: Click

Now, the next question is: I would very much like to see km/h instead of mph on the analog speedometer. I have used switching the multifunction display to show kilometers and that has been ok, but not exactly a great long-term solution.

Since my instrument cluster is perfect, I would not like to buy a new cluster module. Since a new one is pretty expensive and the old is great except the analog speedometer scale. I have noticed that there are shops like Tachodesign.de who sell speedometer backgrounds. Unfortunately, they have these available for about every other model but for the 203. Do you know if the speedometer scale is replaceable? I have seen chrome rings available for the pre-facelift 203, so I assume that the instrument cluster module can be opened. But does this give access to the scale, and is the scale a separate part?

I have noticed that Carlsson has a 330 km/h speedometer available, but I can not find any information, how they have done it. Do they get custom instrument clusters with Carlsson extras directly from the VDO factory or do they take the customer's cluster and modify this. If they do this, that would mean that I can go and start calling the tuners for a nice custom scale and junk yards for a cluster, which is dead but has the scale.

Another question: If I replace my current scale with a Carlsson 330 km/h scale, I guess I will need to recalibrate the speedometer. How does this happen, and who can do this? Does it require a DC computer or is this something a speedo shop can do?

And one more question: Has anybody tried installing a facelift instrument cluster on a pre-facelift model? Are they compatible?
