Euro Lights - Questions about the innards
No picture for the moment, I'll try to add one later.
I'm installing my new headlights and was curious about a few of the details. On the rear of the Large Euro reflector there are two holes one for the H4 and another much smaller one just underneath. It appears as if another bulb can (or should?) be added to that location. This does not appear in my DOT Bosch set. Also the DOT spec lights have a small tube filled with water that protrudes from the H4 mounting clip, it appears to be a counterbalance? Should this be transfered to my Euros? |

That smaller hole is for the 'city' driving light. I don't think your US car will have a switch for that. Some people have jump-wired their parking light switch to activate this bulb.
What year/model of car?

The small bulb socket is for the curb parking light. In Germany when you park on the curb during evening hours, you are required to turn on the light on the street side of the car. The German spec cars have a light switch that allows you to select either the right or left side to turn on the lights.

The curb parking light is "connected" to the turn indicator/side lights.

On my 107, I wired my Euro side markers to act as a turn signal in addition to the fronts. This wasn't easy given that there is only one filament in that bulb. On my spare set, I replaced the single filament with a dual (also not particularly easy), which should turn out better and easier. I think that turn signals visible from the side are a modern-day requirement.
