Is This The W126 Recirculate Flap? (Pics)
These were taken with the glove box removed on an 85 380SE. In the first picture, the flap is in what I would call a "closed" position though I really don't know. In "auto" mode, the temp wheel was set to max cold (clicked into place) and EC was selected. The flap remained unmoved; this is where it sits when the car is not running.
The second pic was also taken in "auto" mode, with temp wheel set to max cold, but this time AC was selected. The flap very slowly moved away from me, swinging upwards and eventually stopping completely against the seating surface. In this position, the blower fan is exposed below and I can see it spinning in place. Can anyone tell me if everything is functioning properly? Oh, and the picture below - can someone tell me what this actuator controls? Thanks!

First pic = recirc flap open. When there's no vacuum to the actuators, the flap allows in outside air.
Second pic = recirc flap closed. No outside air. Third pic = Edited: see below Sixto Last edited by Brian Carlton; 11-07-2006 at 12:20 AM. |

Was brought to my attention that the third pic is the defrost flap actuator. The two hoses aft of the actuator go to fittings on the upper end of this two-chamber actuator.
The center vent actuator is directly ahead of the PBU. Sixto 93 300SD |
