Last weekend we had the oil changed on this car. The "service due" light will not go off. I stopped by a German car repair shop we have used before and the man looked it up on a computer disk. The instructions said to press the 0 on the left hand side of the dash and hold it while turning the key to the second position(when the dash lights up). I have tried this several times with no luck. Help! I need to turn this message off. Thanks in advance!!

Sitting in the driver's seat with the door closed, turn the key to position 2. Press the 0 button twice, then turn the key off. Next press and hold the 0 button while turning the key back to position 2. It will take a few seconds but this should reset your service counter.

if you have the owners manual the procedure is listed there under FSS or Maintenance.

There are 3 or 4 steps; just follow the instructions.

When I do mine it usually takes 5 or 6 tries for it to take....

If you have your car serviced at a good MB independent, they should be able to reset the system. If you take your car to Goofy Lube, however, they won't have a clue. Also have you seen the quality of filters that they use at most of those Goofy Lube places. I woudn't put one on my car. I spun one off a W201 the other day to get to something. It hab about half the stuff inside and half the weight of an OEM and it was oil saturated and the OEM was dry.
