Hood pad

1989 300E

Hood pad appears to be sagging at a few locations. I do not see any mechnical means of holding the pad except at the very edges. Is the pad simply glued down? Any recommendations of what glue to use?

The 3M heavy duty adhesive is what most people use (not the "regular", less expensive one).

If you can actually remove a 17 year old pad in one piece to get glue under the detached part, that would be quite a trick. In the event that you do, or wind up buying a new one, there are many posts on this subject.

The stuff your talking about is 3M 8090 adhesive, I recently found it at an Advanced Auto Parts for about $13, so you can probably get it anyplace. I used a full can to install a hood pad, it works very well.
