Idle control module ???
We were planning on going on a Route 66 trip this fall with the MBCA group. George Murphy, tech director for the club, emailed me a list of things that I need to do to my 26 year old 450sl to get her up to speed so that we don't get stranded in the Mojave. One of the spares that was recommended that I bring with me is an Idle control module. I have searched this forum and several parts sites and have drawn a blank on what it looks like or where it might be hiding. Can anyone help? Do I really need one of these?
Appreciate your help!

Guess he was thinking about 380SL's...the 450SL's NEVER had electronic idle speed controls..
ARE you having any problems??? Maybe he meant a "fuel pump relay"?

Thanks for the response! He wasn't thinking fuel pump relay since that was the other spare that he recommended that I bring along.
Nice to know that my search abilities haven't totally gone south and that the car doesn't have an idle control module.
