C230 K 2000 Blinking Fuel indicator...

Just bought a 2000 C 230 K with 139, 000 KM on it. Very clean and excellent drive. The fuel warning light keeps lighting up and does not go away untill I shut engine down and restart later. I checked the tightness of the fuel filler cap , because the manual reads that a lose fuel cap could cause the blinking. Well I dont think it is. Also, almost everytime the fuel light comes on the "Check Engine" light also comes on.

Also between 100km/hr to 130km/hr the car has a vibration which goes away if I exceed 130km/hr or drop below 100km/hr. I checked the PSI in all tires, left rear was short a few PSI. I didnt test yet but I am just putting this info out.

I checked the oil, its slightly below max marking.

Should I have this diagnosed at a shop? Any hints?

THX

thx for that link.

Is the Fuel shut off valve, AMM or MAF covered as part of engine warranty?

I have powertrain warranty on the car. I have only had it for five days, I am going to have this problem diagnosed but its comforting that its not difficult to fix on my own.

UPDATE.

I took the car to a shop downtown (non mb but they have a lot of euro cars go through), had the guy hook up the diagnostic reader. He pulled a code P0455. Evap/Emissions Leak. Which he said could be the gas cap, before I mentioned it. I then tried a cap from a 1997 c230 and drove for about 15 minuets, till the fuel indicator light came on again, but the Check Engine light did not come on. I went back put my original cap on and drove for about 7 minuets when both fuel indicator and Check Engine lights came on. I then got home and put the cap on from my 190e 1990 2.6L. Same result, no Check Engine light but fuel indicator light came on.

I have question about gas caps. I was browsing ********AZ and saw that Gas Cap for 2000 C230K costs about $15 more than a Gas Cap for a 190e 2.6L, while both seem to intergchangable. Are they the same?
