Hey, Jim, isn't it about time for you to get another Benz? You've had yours quite a while now. What WOULD you buy, if you bought another one right now?

I guess, a '94-'95 W124 AMG E60 sedan, in almandine red, I suppose.
Those things are monsters.

Here is an E60 AMG for you, it needs new rear tires but seems in good shape otherwise.:D Every once in awhile an E60 pops up for sale, but damn they are rare.

E60 in Norge.

Thanks, that's the E60 all right.

Uff Da, those wacky Norwegians!!! It would need a License plate frame, that said: "Blow engine to Pass" hahaha

Hatterasguy 05-17-2007 08:01 PM

No an E60 needs a rear plate that reads "passed" or "see ya":D

That E60 was a hard act to folow. Nice amount of wheelspin, and nice thick smoke..... The CLK did ok..

I was this close to buying a 1999 CL500, but with the twins, I just couldn't see myself trying to squeeze them into their car seats with the two door coupe.

I think a 124 wagon is a great solution.

One of the advantages to a 1993 or newer w124 wagon is that they come from the factory with r134a refrigerant, and the a/c in my 1993 300E (3.2) blew ice cold.

I've got my eyes out for a wagon now....the CE will have to go to make room. I've got no plans to part with my AMG :D

Well then, the AMG hammers have really expensive parts, always break, and love fuel..... ;) I think the only solution is to keep what you have got....

That, or put a car into storage, and give it to your kid when he becomes of age.

Sage advice...my CE will be the casualty (not the 55) when I locate a suitable TE.

After thinking about it quite a bit, I've decided to not entertain another toy....(W124 Hammer Wagon). I rationalized that if I was going "all the way" with another AMG for now, it would be a W211 E55 Estate, which can be had for around $60K. The upside to that being a warranty, particularly if I got one with a factory extended warranty.

The W208/55 will retain it's title as "toy" until it gets replaced with something more sinister.... **cough** CLK63 Black Series **cough** :D A new house is on the plate before that however.

My goal is to replace my 300CE daily driver with another daily driver. The Hammer Wagon, sadly, while fun, would not be a good fit for me at the moment.

Hatterasguy 05-19-2007 03:26 PM

I have seen a couple of E55 wagons, two had all the badging removed. But the exhuast and wheels kind of give them away, still talk about a sleeper!:D

I imagin several people have been surprised by a Mercedes station wagon pulling on their sports car.:D:cool:

Audi also has a sick wagon, with AWD and a stick. RS6 I beleive.

iwrock 05-19-2007 04:19 PM

My boss's friend has a Kleeman E55 wagon. Its got kiddie seats in the back, as well as E320 4matic badging on the rear. Talk about fun.

"Hey dad, that wagon just passed your porsche.."
