I just took off my hardtop off from the long Winter this year in Colorado and the brown dye from my convertable top bled onto the rear window leaving it with a brownish tint to it.
Will a plastic polish or something similar help me, or am I doomed to buying a new top? This is the original top that was never used until 1999. The previous owner never had the hardtop off, therefore I would really like to keep everything I can original. Thanks, Don Solomon Durango, Colorado 1978 450SL |

Don't know about brown dye but my 1980 Mercedes had very bad plastic windows in the soft top. I was told that I needed a new top and that they could not be replaced without leaking. I went to a boat dealer and got a bottle of plastic window polish for $8 and the windows now look like new. What the heck, it's worth a try!
Really enjoy our 450SL during the somewhat short summers here in Wisconsin. What a great car!
