I have a 2001 ML Uk (2002) Spec, had it just 2 months. I had all the rear & side windows security laminated & tinted and since then when I listen to FM radio and switch on the Rear window demister I get interference. Anyone know why this may be. ?

I suspect that the window tinting guys may have knocked a connector or something as the FM aerial is in the rear screen I believe.

If I recall right, the ML has an antenna that runs inside the glass. The security lamination is thick and the tint film may contain tid bits of metal in it, which interfere w/ the FM reception. In short: your tint and lamination causes your FM reception to die. What do do? remove the tint and film, but I doubt you wanna do that.

Maybe try to see if you can get the antenna rerouted into a different one where the reception wouldn't get cut off.

Hi thanks for the reply, but the interference only occurs when I switch on the heated rear window demister. FM is fine otherwise.

I wonder if it was bits of metal in the tint I would have interference all the time?
