I took my 2002 C240 to the dealer today to have my alarm looked at. When I use the SmartKey to lock the car or sometimes open the car the alarm will sound. The problem is random and intermittent.

I though the dealer would connect a computer to the car and check that all the components were talking to one another properly. The dealer said NO, that they have to duplicate the problem by using the key, and they didn't connect any computer to the car.

Does that seem like the proper way to fix the car?

Could it be the SmartKey is the problem? if seems only one of my two keys cause the alarm to sound. can keys be scanned or checked for compatability to the in car components?
