Is my manual window regulator repairable?
This happened Saturday afternoon on the 79 W123 240D with crank windows. I can't quite see inside the door due to the angle. Is is possible to repair the regulator where it separated from the spring or do I need to buy an entire new one? Sigh.
I included pictures of where it broke and what a complete regulator looks like. Hopefully this has been covered before but I didn't see anything pertaining to this after doing some searching. Thanks! |

If it were me, I'd whip that assembly out, reinsert the spring post into the oblong hole, and touch the post with my MIG welder to reattach it to the arm. Maybe you could get a local shop to do this for you (assumimg that the post was originally pressed in and has worked its way out, of course).

Does the spiral spring need to be compressed? I can see myself injuring myself very easily with such a thing.
I unfortunately don't have a MIG welder or any sort of welder. All I do have got is a subterranean garage that I have to hide in to do work becuase of BS legal reasons. I just need to know exactly what the repair is before I take it apart since the car can get ripped off in the garage if the window assembly is completely out for any extended period of time. |
