lcd temp display question

hey guys. i have an 86 300e and have a couple of questions about the lcd display/sensor. the lcd display i have currently in the car plugs into a square 4 pronged plug. i bought a newer lcd display from a 89 w124 that has five prongs. now apparently, there is a part, 013 545 32 28, that can allow the 5 pronged display to plug into the stock 4 pronged plug. have any of you guys ever heard of this part or swap?

another question is that when i look at the 4 pronged plug in the car now, it actually has 5 wires. is it possible to just cut and solder the individual wires to new lcd display?

thanks again.

They're in numerical form 1-1 2-2 3-3 4-4 5-0 (in your case, you don't want tha fifth prong on the LCD unit)...you can either open the unit up and remove the extra prong or just cut it..

Red face Thanks for the info

Got the part (013 545 32 28) from the dealer for $1.50. Now I can know the outside temperature.
