Just saw a nice 88 420sel with 95K miles. It appears to be in good shape. Drove real nice, with no unusual noises or vibrations. What are the weak areas I should be looking at before purchase? Are these cars generally easy to maintain? I own a 380se, and just love it. Thanks, Al

My dad has a 1988 420SEL. He likes it. It has 250K i beleive. Not sure exactly what he has done to it, but he generally just does the minimum. It burns a little oil, He has or should have replaced the valve cover gasket. He just replaced the radiator. The front bumper rusts out on the top on these easily i guess as his crome plating has peeled away of something. However he says it doesent have a lot of power though. He and my sister dragged her 84 300D Turbodiesel, and he lost he said. Tune up? I dont know how that happened.
