The "problem" is that the W220 also came with 98 models. Have a look here for the MB part numbers; http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=140032&M=104%2E990++++++994&GA=722%2E368371%2C502508%2C605&GM=717%2E454&CT=F&cat=19B&SID=83&SGR=045&SGN=01 Blower; 251 Regulator; 252 br, syljua

what's wrong with those blower motors then? crap Bosch engineering? or does humid air from using the airconditioner get trapped in it?

They are nice blower motors. Age gets to them, nothing lasts forever.

95 S320 Blower reg
Just replaced blower regulator for only high speed ,low flow. Quoted $1200 from Benz dealer for blower and regulator , supposedly only available as a unit.Found on line for $150. Several p/n's will work.It seems a larger heat sink was added to later models. It's in the DIY section for test and replacement.

Here is what you need
I too had this problem, the blower only ran at about 30% speed when showing it on high speed in the fan control.
The problem is most likely the fan regulator. The thread on the link below has a description of the fix, posted by stevebfl. Get out your wire cutter and a soldering iron and it only takes a few minutes. Of course, get the regulator from Fast Lane. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=85573&highlight=blower+regulator |

A friend of mine with a BMW 3 series paid $800 because his windshield washer stopped working. He brought it to the BMW dealer and they had a list of horrible things wrong with the car. I went over the list and they essentially did nothing to the car other than replace the washer motor and do some regular service items. To make matters worse it stopped working again because the idiots at the BMW dealer did not realize that the old motor just had clogged screens from debris getting into the washer fluid. I fixed the car the second time in his garrage in 5 minutes. Its really a shame that so many shops are willing to rip people off and take advantage of them at the drop of a hat. |
