Low oil pessure on E320 (W210)

I have been looking to purchase an E320 ('98 to '00) and I have noticed on the pictures (where the car had an inside shot with the engine running) that the oil pressure gauge is never above 1, mostly hovering under, while the engine temp is between 80c and 90c and transmission is in park. Idle speed seems to be around 650-700 rpm.
On my 124, for the first 180k miles anyway, it always stayed at 1.5 and rose to max, 3.0, when I stepped on the accelerator. However as I have put more and more mileage on it the pressure started to drop and hovered around 1 or under with a warm engine idling in gear. The problem is that none of these cars have more 60k on them.
Can any 210 owner explain this to me? By the way, all of the cars I am looking at are in Japan.

Thanks,

Alex

USA W210 cars don't have oil pressure guage! only oil level.
