Hi all, while trying to fix a problem with the aux fans with my car I ran into this part located just behind the brake booster (the middle black box in the picture), I need to know what it goes to. Inside it resides a white fuse, it was blown and there is power going to it. I don't want to try putting a new fuse in until I find out what it does. I have not noticed any effect from the fuse being blown, and for all I know it could have been like this for years. This car has fuses spread everywhere throughout that are not labeled which makes me wonder how many more might be blown that I don't know about.

I'd like to double-check my info on my Mercedes wiring diagram disc, but can't get it to work, BUT I think it's for the aux fans. If you look on the fuse list, I think it is listed there, but instead of a fuse number it says something like "Aux Fuse Box" or sumptin' like that. If no one knows for sure, hopefullt I'll get a current version of Adobe Acrobat installed and then can check it out.

I tried to put in a new fuse with the ignition off and it blew instantly. There's always power going to it so I'm thinking it goes to something else besides the aux fans. I tried to follow the wire but it goes under the master cylinder away from view. It looks like I'm going to need to look at a wiring diagram as you suggested Gilly. If you end up getting your Adobe Acrobat working hopefully you can post the diagram.

I have the acrobat on now and will try to figure it out. I always have a problem trying to post anything here, but hopefully my description will suffice. I know just enough about computers to get myself into trouble.

Ohhhh kay. Clear as mud, this is a tricky one. THINK I have it figured out though. Fairly sure the fuse holder is F22/1, it's used for the seat heaters. If I am correct it should be a 25 amp fuse, a white one is only 8 amps. You got seat heaters, and do they work? Acid test is this: Should have 2 wires (in and out) one is red, other is red with a white stripe. I see these colors in the pic you posted but hard to tell what combinations they are. I just see both red and white. I also see the number 5 label on one of the wires, unsure the significance of that, usually I would associate it with fuse #5, but I see no connection to F22/1 and fuse 5. If this all seems to be correct-sounding, I'd try popping in a 25 amp fuse. If you have spare fuses I think a 25 amp is blue.

Well, unfortunately my car does not have seat heaters, I wonder if the wiring was put in anyhow and they just left the element out. I've tried the white, red, and blue color fuses and they blow immediately. There are only two wires as you mentioned, one red, the other red and white so that's at least good.
I figure that it's been like this since I've had the car, everything seems to work fine on the car except the low speed aux fan setting but I don't think that this has to due with it. Do you think you can email me the pdf of the wiring diagram?
