w140 evaporator problem
Hi guys,
I know that some of you replaced evaporators in your s-class. I have a serious leak out the evaporator. Dye is all over ac drain lines, transmission and puddle of dye under the car right below transmission. So it is leaking 100%. I am looking as much information and/or photos of evaporator replacement as I can find. I had evaporatior replaced in my previous 300E w124. It was not that bad. Yeah time consuming but not terrible. But what about w140? I have 1992 500sel. If someone replaced evaporator on w140 and can share some knowledge and tricks please let me know. Thank you.

You aren't going to like what I'm going to say.
On the W140 everything from the firewall to the gearshift lever has to come out to replace the evaporator. It is NOT a job for a do it yourselfer unless you've worked for Mercedes-Benz in an earlier life. The part itself is only about $350-400 but the labour runs around $3000. When you get it done make sure that they use the updated part. Sorry
