AC Blower Mystery

OK...
I was lucky that the blower-motor fuse overheating did not start a "localized meltdown" in the fuse area. However, the fuse housing overheated and literally welded one of the nuts holding the fuse onto its base plate, which is at ground potential. Replacement of the fuse (with the connection grounded), of course did not allow the motor to run. Realizing the grounding issue, correction was made, still with no positive result. I plan on testing the blower and the controller. Two questionsj, knowing this history could someone predict what has happened? Second, how do I diagnose the controller or other parts that may be likely damaged?
I have performed a search of the topic but did not find specific answers.

Thanks for all the help
