How do I remove the aluminum trim, then the windows on the rear sides of a 1989 300te. I have to replace the gaskets, they leak and are rotting the metal underneath.

Go to search function to search all forums. Click on advanced search and type in my user name and under keyword type in window trim. I few of us have had this problem and some of the threads you find may prove helpful.

Did as you recommended...very helpful. How do I remove the window, itself? Is it necessary to have a glass shop "re-seal" the window, or is this a DIY?

You may want to do a search on my name as well to find info on this repair. Between Ron and I, the subject is covered fairly well.

I chose to use new rubber and have the glass shop reinstall. As I remember, Ron did all himself. All depends on your skill level and willingness to venture into unknown areas. Ron has done some repairs that I only wish I could handle.

I understand that the side windows can be fragile if not done correctly though. So proceed with caution.

When I removed the trim around window I used LPS 1 as a lubricate to ease removal; most any lube will work.

Window and gasket removed and installed as a unit with the plastic tools I made reference to in prior posts. You reseal gasket to the vehicle with bedding compound and reseal the window to the gasket with the same product. Install window with gasket on it to vehicle.

I would think your gasket could be reused once it's cleaned up. I used pressure washer to blast off as much old bedding compound as possible and then used 3m general purpose adhesive remover to remove the rest.

Of course it would be a good idea to repair rust damage that caused leak before you reinstall window.

Got the trim off...I am a very happy camper!!! I ordered new gaskets. Why take all this time and not do it right. I ordered some POR15 to treat the rust. What product did you use to "Bed" the gasket to the body and gasket to window? Seems that there may be new 'innovations' since 1989.
