Brake issues on 190E 1986 sedan

hello!

i just bought my first car & it's a used mercedes!

i wanted to know if anyone had any ides on why my brakes are acting funny just after getting the master cylinder replaced. the brakes do not respond unless you press the pedal down about halfway. the seller was told by the mechanic that the brakes needed to be bled for air, but that didn't seem to really help.

any input would be great!
