Unhappy cam control logic chain

Good afternoon to all,
I have a situation that I know you guys can help on! I have a '95 C280 on my hands with a P1341 Camshaft control logic chain code. The car has come to us from another shop with other problems and all was resolved but this code. The oil is in good shape and after pulling the VC off to verify Cam timing, which is good, the cyl. appears to be in great shape with no sludge build up. Pulled off Cam adjuster and all is ok with that and magnet pulls normally. Verifyed grn signal from ECM to adjuster but cam does nothing! Verifyed operation of MAP sensor and had correct voltage decrease with vacuum increase. Which leaves me to believe that there is a problem with the Vanos itself. Has anyone run into these being a problem or did I forget something?? Thanks Alan

has the cylinder head been off recently?i know you said timing is good, but i have seen if the gear on the intake cam is not turned fully to the right before assembly it will set this code, also if the oil cap is not original or defective this can also set the code. one other thing is if the car does not get to operating temperature or to temp fast enough, this can also set this code.

According to the customer, the Cyl. head was off about four years ago. An oil cap can cause this ... that would be too simple When i had the VC off, I manually turned the intake Cam back and forth and appered to be normal.
