1984 SEC center air vent fixed!!

Hey guys. Found a W126 similar to mine at the junk yard and decided to explore the center vent problem of no air flow. I have been sticking a screw driver in the vent on occasion to open the flap, but it doesn't always stay there.
Anyway here goes.
Remove the speedometer gauge unit.
There was no need to pull up the carpet because the speedometer wires were long enough. Unhook the rubber curtain surrounding the center vent only half way with your left hand. I left the pins in and just stretched the curtain around the pin head for now. It did not tear.
With a small flat head screw driver remove the left half of the center vent. This is a bit tricky but be patient. With a flash light if needed on the left side of the left vent is a small tab. Slip the screw driver under it and lift a bit. Then push the vent half forward (or in) just a bit. Yes forward. Do the same with the right side of the left center vent. Now with your left hand through the hole where the speedometer was grab hold of the vent and with your right hand push the front of the vent. You may have to rotate the vent down to clear the catch tabs. You will be removing the vent half through the speedometer opening. Space is tight and because of the catch tabs on either side of the vent half I could not remove it any other way.
Each dash vent has a slider control. The center vent slider, as in my case, had become detached from the center flap. The center slider control is adjustable with a phillips screw driver which rotates a screw inside the vent opening. This screw turns in place inside the long part of a plastic L shaped shaft. It's the small part of the L shaped shaft that disconnected from the center flap on my W126. The plastic catch tab had not broken off so I was good to go.
All I had to do was to reinsert the L shaped shaft into the hole mount on the center flap.
Take a pair of long needle nose pliers to remove the rubber curtain pin.
Next replace the vent half that you removed through the speedometer hole. It's best to also remove the plastic knob on the left dash vent. It kinda got in the way when I reinstalled the vent half.
Now reattach the rubber curtain as best you can with your left hand. Not necessary to line up the hole in the curtain because as you feel the hole with your finger in the dash just push the pin through the curtain to reattach.
Reattach the left vent knob.
Replace the gauge unit.
Your done!!
