Fuel tank on TE/TD
Got an '82 300TD that has a fuel tank that's pretty much done. I found a rust free 230TE in a local junk yard.
Anyone know if I can take the Gas tank from the 230TE(Gas) and put it on my 300TD(Diesel)? It would be cheeper and faster if I could put the "gas"tank on my diesel, but are there any issues/differences in the tank? The TE has been a good find so far, I've already nabed the hatch, so nice to have a hatch that is fully functional and 99% rust free, had some nasty holes happening in the old one. The four doors fron the TE are in the near future, then some body and paint, going to be sweet! |

The part number is different between gas & diesel...
If they look similar I would think you could make it work work

Compare the fuel pick up point / fuel screen. They might be different. You will have to keep the neck you now have, since the gasoline necks are usually smaller in dia.
