How much $ for tranny - SEC

Friend's uncle has a 1986 560 SEC that he doesn't drive anymore because reverse works "sometimes".

How much to rebuild an SEC tranny?

Anyone know?

To rebuild the tranny on my 89 560SEL, My mechanic charged me for Original Mercedes parts from Mercedes and labor which totaled to $1k. Many charge different and the work is done differently in terms of quality. I have put about 10k miles on the car now and the tranny shifts like new. Its better if you know someone who can rebuild the tranny for you so you can still keep the original housing and such... Good Luck

My 1984 500 SEC had a rebuilt from the factory installed by the previous owner four years ago. I found the receipt for the repair totaling $1924.00 in Oregon State USA.

It's a shame..his 'sometimes' reverse is most likely due to a 5$ inner seal on the reverse clutch..

That aside, Re-man transmission run the gammut...I see anywhere from 1K to 3K..

Pay to go with someone who has Experience rebuilding these, not some guy banging out TH400's all day...

Is that you Brian? I had a guy in my shop the other day and he had a very similar story.
