1990 300 sl change over to 5 speed info wanted
i wondered if it would be hard to change over a 1990 300 sl from the auto to the factory 5 speed set up
is anyone reading this forum familiar w/the differences between the two cars? can the swap be made relatively easy? thanks |

Why? The five speed sticks are quite available.

because my at may be going out and i thought it would be nice to change to
a5speed rather than rebuild the auto

Have you driven one? It isn't a very nice setup - bad clutch, long throw, dogleg shift pattern. I would try one if you haven't yet. The short answer is that it would be a big job, plus the parts are rare.

i would think that the parts are much the same as for a five speed in an e class or a 190 or c class.
perhaps the shifter might be different. i dont know from experience but i would be surprised. tom w
