1989 300E fuel pumps
I have a 1989 300E and the question I have is how do I know if my fuel pumps are going bad? Also how would I go about testing them.
One other question, Whereis the fuel check valve and how do I check if it is O.K.? Thanks Fab Last edited by 300ESUPER; 09-26-2006 at 12:47 PM. |

What exactly is your car doing...?
My 86 only has one fuel pump. If you turn the key but, do not start the engine, you can hear the fuel pump(s) "arming" the fuel system...A lot of the fuel system problems are related to a fuse on the OVP. A couple of bucks solution and, from there, the sky is the limit....What is the problem...?

What symptoms did you observe to suspect the fuel pump? Cheaper to replace the fuel filter first.

I am having a low idle problem on start-up. I have already changed the fuel filter, fuel accumulator, distributor cap, dist rotor, spark plugs, water temp sensor and cleaned the idle air control valve and throttle body. WHen I cleaned the throttle body the problem got better but it is still there.
Thanks Fab |
