fuel distributor nightmare

i read some of the postings on fuel distributors that were listed, i noticed a few were old so i thought i'd try my luck. i have a 1979 450 sl with fairly low miles. the miles are low because it hasn't run right in a long time. four fuel distributors later, i'm in need of a rebuild kit. all the ones i have gotten from junk yards and on ebay used have one or more fuel outputs not functioning properly whether cast iron or aluminium. these rebuild kits have got to be available...i'm gonna try a boshe supplier this week. has anyone found out where to find a rebuild kit, or a way of making your own new diaphram? any help would be greatly appreciated...

Are you sure it's not a "stuck piston"

I had a fuel dis. problem on my 380 - couple wacks (taps...) with a hammer later and she ran good - REAL good.

I've dismantled a few K-jet fuel distributers from Saabs, to see why they weren't working as they should.

It's usually rust on the spacer plate, or in the fuel metering slots.

As far as I am aware, there is no rebuild kits available for any of them. The castings are bolted to the spacer plate with no gaskets. The machined surfaces against the spacer plate seal when everything is both new and extremely clean, and somehow seal against it.

I hate to say it, but I think you're in for a new one. Yea, I know that Bosch is damn proud of those things.

Rebuild kits are not available.. Those that do rebuild them are manufacturing the critical seals/gaskets which are NLA from MB.

Get yourself a CIS Flowtech (i've been using them for years) and call it a day..

Used FD's are a risky way to go IMHO.

I have not found CIS Flowtech on the web. How do I contact them?

that may be difficult, they don't deal w/ the public.

If you like I should be able to help, drop a line via blueridgemb@gmail.com
