Transmission Problem With 300se M/b
The reverse is very weak and will only reverse when the car is on an level ground with a bit of decline, if there is any elevation on the surface it will not reverse. It was changing gears normally but now I have noticed that its not changing and the RPm goes up to 40 and the car has no power so I have to drive very slow, it only stays in one gear when I am driving and does not change. I added Lucas transmission fix it worked for awhile but now does not seem to help, Any advise or help would be appreciated

I had a similar problem and on Friday I had the tranny service, new filter and fluid... now it's works like new! If you've not had it serviced in the last 15k+ miles I'd have it serviced. Best $200 I've spent!

the transmissions are known for tearing the inner seal of the reverse clutch housing. 3$ part kills reverse. Often it starts out as a small tear so you get Some reverse..eventually it will all but quit.
If you haven't serviced your trans in the last 40-50K it May be a clogged filter but that would be an Awful lot of clutch material and I wouldn't feel to good about my transmission were that the case. To fix the torn seal the box need to be torn down. Jonathan

Yes, @ 50+K the fluid will be long since past it's ideal life expectancy. With that in mind you expereince excess clutch slippage and if things get Very warm coking of internal bits and possible glazing of pads/steels.
F&F every 25K is the best way to keep things kosher, every 15-20K if the car is put under heavy load/traffic/lead foot etc.. Jonathan

Is there anything additional I should look to do to the tranny? Maybe another fluid change soon? Any sort of cleaner or additional additive?
