My 92 300CE is in excellent shape; runs like a top at 88K miles -- but I wonder if there are any preventive maintenance steps I can take to avoid what appears to be a couple of potential problem areas??
(1) Head gasket leaking oil from the rear of the engine seems to be a fairly common problem. Should I tighten bolts to avoid this, or replace the gasket at a certain point -- or what? (2) Failure of the Electronic Ignition module. I have read that the heat dissipation material on the rear of this module dries up after awhile and becomes ineffective, perhaps contributing to failure from the heat. Can I replace this material with something now on the market that would help to continue the protection?? These modules are super expensive ....... Thanks for the help... Ben Carter
