Flare on tranny shift

Hi,

My car's an '87 190E 2.3 8V. I replaced my vacuum modulator a few months back because my car was shifting hard and I was loosing a lot of tranny fluid through the modulator.

I've been test driving it ever since as recommended. I noticed that if I do granny driving, the shifting between gears is smooth. But if I do a power take-off's I noticed that it flares between gears. Short flares only, around a second (meaning one thousand one) before it catches the next gear. Is this normal? If not normal, what does this indicate?

I never drove this car in perfect condition (but I'm trying to get there) so I have no point of comparison. Hope you guys can enlighten me.

Thanks in advance.
