M117 32v 6.0l

Does anyone here know if the stock spark plugs ends from AMG were 5ohm or should they be a 1kohm? The plugs are a H7DC (volkswagon as best I can tell) and the remainder of the ignition system is stock (coil/ezl).

Chatting w/ Renntech is proving to be rather trying

Many Thanks!

Jonathan

Thinking of selling her? Man same interior as the SDL, just with more wood!

Any idea of what you might be asking?

If someone offered me 60K I'd let her go

She was hiding in Dallas.

Hmm where do you guys find these W126's? I have never ran across one.

$60k you say? Hmm maybe in a coulpe of years. A Hammer parked next to the SDL with a matching interior would be a sweet pair.

How fast is that thing? Do a top speed run yet?

the last one i worked on had 5k ohm plug ends, also be careful of which plugs you use, the seating surface on the one i worked on was tapered, someone had installed plugs with a crush washer, fortunately this didn't damage anything. the plugs we used were from a 103 6cyl engine H9DC

Just keep searching around here. Auctions, newspaper, craigslist, etc. I missed a 280SE ('84) total stripper, manual EVERYTHING, for $200

I missed a real nice 280SEL with a 4spd back when I was W126 hunting. Sold for $1,500! Car was used at an estate on Long Island, low miles and darn good shape.

Damn, I need either a 280SL or 280SEL with a five speed. If there's a place to find one, I'm in the correct area.

There's a dead SDL here for $2k. Timing chain killed motor. Texas car, garage kept. New A/C... I dunno, may part this 380SE and then fix + resell that SDL. Who knows.

thanks carson, yes, these are tapered..no crush washers etc.. Good to know the 5K ends are correct, although I am a bit suprised based on what i've read in the MB literature regarding their ignition systems.

I'll need to see if I can get an end as they all tested to 4.8-4.9, but one was 5.5 and I'd like to get them all spot on.

What year was the one you were working on? This set is Early..stamped 85 on the head.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. My coupe is stock, but once I decided to probe its limits, and found myself at 148 mph. You ask these things to go, and they'll GO!! The most troubling thing after a run like that, you realize that the most comfortable envelope for the car and the driver is in the 90-120 mph range. And that's at dire risk to your license (You can't outrun Motorola, Bell, or Fido, as the LEOs say)

A certified 6.0 AMG is going to REALLY fly. Back in the day, each of those AMG conversions consisted of hand picked engine, transmission, suspension, body and interior and paint and wheel upgrades selected by the customer, so each was unique.
I've seen the catalogue from that era (1987) that Barry Taylor of AMG West in Calif. had, and as I recall the 6.0 32v was the top 117 engine upgrade they did on those cars. Each AMG upgrade was very very expensive, and usually cost over $30k-$40k to start with...

My first experience involved driving a nearly new lapis blue 1884 500SEC AMG from San Francisco to Denver in 1985, at the request of a Judge, and it was a memorable journey indeed, I knew I had to get a car like that one day. Took 11 more years but I finally did.

Your sedan could be one of the real uber-126 ones, like Satish's, the one Jack Middlebrook had (I saw it in Vegas, it was terriffic!) and Talbir's...

Thanks.. I have Jack's old coupe as well and this has car has sadly made driving that one a bit bland.
My next step will be to get the TT project on my White 91 coupe rolling this winter. Now that I've experienced a 400hp 126 I need a 500 hp varient as that's the American way, no?

Bosch has gone and added an R to my H7DC so now I need to dig around to see if I can find the correct non-resistor Beru.. Always something to complicate the ordinary.

Jonathan
