Problem with Auto Gearbox
I have a Mercedes C270 CDi Automatic. Year 2001
When I use the kickdown sometimes it defaults to 2nd gear. I have to stop the car switch off the engine it then resets itself. I put it into Mercedes they changed the gear selector this did not work. I took it to an automatic gearbox specialist he changed the valve body. This did not work. I have been told it may be the speed sensor the chap who changed the valve body has said he changed the speed sensor. Now I am being told it needs a new gearbox but the car runs fine if I do not use the kick down. Can anyone help |

That trans like all of the 722.6_ series is computer controlled..not just codes but adaptation data available...the adaptation figures will show IF the trans or the controls are the problem.
You need to find someone that has good working knowledge of those adaptation figures & what they mean as well as WHAT codes are being stored in the trans computer.

It has been linked up to a computer they said it was the speed sensor but I have already had them replaced!

I was also told that until the problem happened again there would be nothing stored but I have to stop and reset it to get home. They say I need to drive it to them in 2nd gear then they can take the reading.

Hi I am getting similar problems with the gearbox in my car. Did you ever get yours resolved or did you end up replacing the gearbox
Thanks Derek |
