300E idle control valve direction and hoses

In working on a rough idle situation, I've taken out the idle control valve and cleaned it. Now that it's clean, I can see it has a "direction" arrow. Anyone know which way it's supposed to point? Toward the engine or the throttle body?

Also, any hints on replacing that same idle control hose that winds under the manifold and connects closer to the engine? I have a new hose in hand, but it looks like a bugger to get to. Thanks! |

			Toward Engine I am certain!

Cant see it in any pics I have of that area... but here is something... The plug from the wiring goes in with the cables entering from the top... And that plug only fits one way! You can see what I mean maybe in this pic... ![]() And the breather hose.... http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=159346 Hope that helps you!

That's the way I thought. Then I thought maybe the wires should enter from the bottom.

I'm amazed at the engine compartment-

My 86' had just 70k on it a few years ago when I got it. Definately didn't have all the covers etc.. Do notice you have the orignal plastic T-stat housing. Thoses have been replaced with metal ones. When you do a wp- I'd order a housing and T-stat. Michael

I guess I'm at a loss to figure out why it would matter. It meters air woul it matter wich direction it flows in and out?
