'97 E320 noisy lifters - is it common

Same annoyance,I think its the oil filter location.
Mine is 90 2.6 oil filter is in the upright position.
Maybe overnight when the car sits for a longer period of time,the oil from the filter drains back down.
Solution? Use OEM filter.
Result? The same.But it only takes a few seconds.
Lets live w/it.
