MB lighter problem

Hello.
, i've burned out 2 Cell phone chargers on my 190E (1989).
The cigerette lighter works fine but blows out the charger when i plug it in. i've measured the voltage is 12 vts on the battery and the inside of the lighter socket. Anybody can help? Thanks.

The lighter socket sidewalls should be at ground (0 volts) always. Make sure the sidewalls are not energized with any voltage.
