Do a serch for "Code Tool"
There is a code retriever on your car under the hood, next to the battery..why buy one???
Black box w/lid-16 connector socket w/push button/LED for code retrieve.

Try this

Code 5 blinks again CEL OFF

95 W124 (320) I got code 5. I don't know what it really means. I guess I ereased it, the "check engine" light is OFF, but when I press the buttom again it still blinks 5times instead of 1 time (no faults). Any suggestions?

Use the SEARCH feature of the site. There are tons of code retrieve info and EGR remedies for your car in there.

Are you sure you cleared the code properly? To clear the codes, you must follow these steps;

Press the blinker push button for 2 - 4 seconds. The fault code will reappear.
Wait 3 seconds after the last blink, then press the blinker push button for 6 - 8 seconds.
Repeat for each fault code. Each code must be erased individually.
You MUST begin to clear the fault code within 20 seconds of of reading the fault. After 20 seconds, the fault will not clear unless you begin the process over again.

If the built-in LED is giving you 5 flashes, this is the code for Faulty Exhaust Gas Recirculation. As Arthur says, use the Search feature to find all sorts of useful stuff on EGR faults.

DTC Codes for (lots of) Mercedes

There's a (largish) file that is a book of trouble codes for MBs at:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/1039/mercedes/cs1000_mb.pdf
It's about 87 pages, so I printed it out. It has the connector pin layouts, plus codes for each subsystem for the various years.

For cars earlier than '95 that don't have the standard OBDII interface, check out Jim Forgione's website for lots of info, but especially the bottom of the page at:
http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_X11.html for a schematic of a simple code reader you can build for $15 worth of Radio Shack parts. It was a lifesaver for troubleshooting my 92 400E's air conditioning problems.
