Red face lowering e320 info, harsher ride???

Hello everyone,

I am considering lowering my 1997 e320 with Eibach or H and r springs. Does anyone have a e320 and can comment on ride quality difference from stock? Also does the camber need to be corrected with aftermarket parts? Thanks.

99% of the time lowering will compromise the cars "ride". Every thing depends on spring rate VS dampening of the shocks. OF course going to a low profile tire will add to that harsh ride...

Rear camber adjustment will be required if you lower the car so that the rear camber is more than -2.0deg.

Exclamation Doc

Doc,

If I do lower the car do I need to buy an aftermarket product to correct the neg camber in the rear or will an alignment shop be able to get it back to spec with the stock adjustment?

thanks

If you lower it, more than likely you will need a K-Mac kit or speedybenz arms. The rear suspension is the same for the 190(201) up to your car(210)

The ride will be harsh on rough roads, but on smooth ones it feels almost stock. No matter what kind of shocks you use, the ride will be harsher. Don't worry it won't be bad, it will still ride like a Mercedes. I have driven many cars since I work at Hertz rental car, and I feel it rides better than an Audi A4. By the way Hertz has Audi, BMW and Mercedes rentals.

i just put h and rs on my 123 280e euro. the ride is definately harsher. to lower it is necessary to have stiffer springs and less travel. also you will approach curbs and parking bump stops with a new attitude.
