W123 Seat Pads

Hi folks, anybody out there can tell me how to reinsert the bottom seat pads(rear seat) on a W123,this is a late W123 so,it does not have horse hair in the seat bottom,I actually found 4-5 stripes of padding laying under the back seat, some how they came out and the seat bottom is flat where those stripes are missing.

if they are out, it means the pad has come apart. new pads are readily available from your favorite mb parts supplier. for less than $100, i think i paid less than 60 but that was a few years back and the exchange makes it probably a good deal more now.

They are not apart, they look perfect, with some sort of orange sponge/filling in the middle and grey texture on both sides,I just cannot figure out how they slid out in one piece ,no horse hair loose under the seat or front seats either.

two separate things

The felt strips are distinct from the seat pads. The strips feed into channels in the seat cover underside, to provide the classic rib contour. I haven't replaced some on my son's 190, but it seems straightforward. If they slid out, you should be able to slide them back in. Coat hanger, maybe?
