Sl500 1994 Asr Light
Hello,
I Just Purchased A 1994 Sl500. Two Days Later A High Presure A/c Hose Exploded. The Mechanic Said The Motor Mounts Were Bad, & This Cause The Engine To Fall On The Hose. I Replace The Hose & The Mounts. But Now The Asr Light Came On. The Gas Pedal Is Hard, & The Engine Does Not Feel Right. They Told Me To Repalce The Throttle Actuator. The Light Came On Only After The Motor Mounts Were Installed. Can Someone Help? |

Since only the ASR lamp came on have the EA/CC/ISC (electronic accelerator) computer scanned for codes, Possibly a mis-adjusted throttle cable is the problem..

The Sl500 Asr Fix
You Are So Right. I Adjusted The Throttle Cable, Turning The Knob To The Right, & The Light Turned Of. Thank You Very Much. I Cant Belive That I Took The Car To The Mb Dealer, & They Were Ready To Charge Me $1800 To Replace The Throttle Actuator. It Is So Unfair That These Corporations Are So Currupt. They Charge Me $150 For A Car Wash, & The Diagnosis.

It is not always fair to assume that they are corrupt as sometimes they are just incompetent.

I agree, you don't always get the best diagnostic tech when you go to the dealership.
You may get some young trainee who is not familiar with the car and just start throwing parts on it until it's fixed. The shop foreman are not always the best at diagnosing either. In the future, If you did not already do this when you took your car in, make sure you request their( best diagnostic tech) in the shop and make sure you talk to the service manager (before) letting them touch your car. This can go a long way in making sure they stand behind the repairs especially if they start throwing parts at the car left and right to no avail. |
