Vacuum: Rubber or Silicon Hose & Plastic lines | Alternatives?

MB uses a variety of vacuum hoses and the vacuum plastic lines are color coded and some have different id.

When they have to be replaced:
1] does the material [plastic rubber silicone matter]?
2] does the id [inside diameter] matter?

Are there any vacuun diagrams on the 124 CD manual and if so, where?

Thanks
Bob

the only time you need to be concerned about plastic versus rubber is where the lines are located. Are they next to hot parts on the engine or inside the car for say door vacuum. I.D. only matters when volume is a concern. If its tight and does'nt leak the I say its good to go. Just my 2 Cents

On my 95 e320 m104 Plastic lines: black has slightly larger ID than white w green stripe. Both plastic lines into "Y" hose [into lower intake] from Fuel Pressure Regulator and from gismo that has vacuum hoses to EGR & Air Pump [Electric Changeover Valve ?] were brittle.

After changing them to silicon hose, I started questioning my decision because of the larger ID of the silicone hose vs the plastic lines.

no you don't have anything to worry about. those aren't crucial areas that volume is important
