tried to remove the valve covers on my 97 E420 but gave up
thanks to the excellent diy guides here i tried to remove the valve covers on my M119 in 97 E420, but i realized i will NOT be able to do this with my tools.
unlike the W140 chassis there is virtually ZERO ROOM behind the motor to access the hex bolt. I spent 30 min trying every combination of bars & wobblies but no-go. Kudo's to anyone with a 97 E420 who can do this in your garage!!!

A 1/4 in drive wobble alan socket should do it.
Not too bad. Sometimes the valve covers come right off not problem when all the bolts are out. Other times you have to pry a little bit to get them to come free. Are you replacing your oiler tubes? |

Sometimes it pays to undo the bolt under the car holding the motor mount to the frame on the side your working on and than jack up the motor a little. Only undo one side at a time, than put the bolt back in and do the other side. Also the two fuel lines near the firewall should be undo and just move them out the way. Its a big help getting those allens out and also using the 1/4 in drive like cudaspaz said.
