Red face dropped a small piece of cloth in my gas tank

Hello; My mbz is a 1992 E class, 400:i never attempt to work on my cars. This afternoon, i dipped a cloth into the tank to get a little gas on a rag to do some cleaning. When i pulled out the cloth, a piece of it(approx. 1 inch by 1inch) dropped into the tank and i can't get it out. i have not driven the car since this happened(dec.4, 2:00 pm). What can i do about this? I presume i shouldn't drive the car till i find out what i should do. Is it possible the cloth might be disolved by the gas. i do not yet have a regular mechanic. thanks, desperate mbz owner

It'll be fine, there is a strainer in the tank.
