Is a manual for the c36 THAT hard to find?

What do you guys do for service manuals on your cars? I just purchased the 2 dvd Mercedes WIS ASRA program and found it almost useless. Has anyone bought this before? It has over 8 gigs of repair info that is very hard to use. Not only that, but it is rediculous to install on your pc. I contacted our local dealership and they did not have manuals-certainly not everyone brings these to the dealership to be serviced. What do the techs use in the shop? This stinks!!

The WIS is the factory system. There are no paper manuals anymore due to the complexity of the cars and the volume of space it would take. If you learn the WIS you will be far ahead. MB does sell a CD for the W202, which is a condensed version fo the WIS. It is fine for most DIYer stuff, but isn't anywhere near as extensive as the WIS. The PN for the CD is P-2700-202-03. MBUSA had them on sale for $49.95 a while back. One caveat - neither the WIS or CD are C36 specific - they are for the model series.

That is amazing. As a former Acura/Honda tech, I was expecting the same level, if not better, documentaion for our cars. I even worked for Ford for a couple of years, and their crappy manuals seemed to be better than this WIS. Maybe I am just not used to it, but the wiring diagrams are not very well laid out nor is the info easy to find. Like the EGR system, is says that there is no info available!! If the WIS is the best we have, does anyone else have experiences to share that might make using this system easier? Thanks for your posts!

There's a good chance your WIS doesn't have all the info that's out there.. I hear quite a few stories like that.

I find the WIS to be Full of very helpful info... It's just not intuitive as far as navigation is concerned.

I found two items on the EGR...

Thumbs down

That is crazy! How can you have more info in your WIS? What ever i got from manuals unlimited does not even have the c280/c36 listed in there and I can clearly see that yours does! I am begining to get a little pissed that I paid for a WIS that does not have all the info? How is this possible?
